MEGDAL HEADS UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA WATER RESOURCES RESEARCH CENTER
 

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Medical Board Vice-Chair Sharon B. Megdal, Ph.D. has been appointed Director of the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) at the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. WRRC was established in 1957 to provide statewide outreach and education focused on critical water issues affecting Arizona. Dr. Megdal holds and has held numerous positions relating to water issues including Professor/Specialist of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Arizona.

In addition to her activities in water resource management, Dr. Megdal has also served on the Arizona Medical Board since 1999 and was elected by the Board as Vice-Chair in August 2003. While on the Board, Dr. Megdal actively advocated for and helped create the Board's first set of Disciplinary Rules that provide a consistent and uniform framework for disciplinary actions against physicians.

"Dr. Megdal is a talented and well-educated individual who has dedicated herself to educating and serving the citizens of this state for over two decades," said Arizona Medical Board Executive Director Barry A. Cassidy, Ph.D., P.A.-C. "We are fortunate to have her on the Board."

 

The Arizona Medical Board is comprised of 12 members, including four public members and eight physicians. Board members are appointed by the Governor and may serve up to two five-year terms. The Board is responsible for licensing and disciplining over 15,000 medical doctors in Arizona.
