James M Gillard, MS, MD, FACEP, FAAEM is a Board Certified Emergency Physician, practicing at three Carondelet
hospitals in Tucson. He received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 1975
and has post-graduate training at both the University of Arizona and the University of California, San Diego. He
is a Life Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a Founding Member and Fellow of the American
Academy of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Gillard also earned a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Arizona in 2010 and is an
active member of the Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center at the University. In addition, he holds a
part-time faculty appointment as Instructor, Clinical Emergency Medicine with the University of Arizona College
of Medicine.
As a long time Arizona resident, Dr. Gillard attended grammar school and high school in the Phoenix area, as well
as earned two undergraduate degrees, a BA in Chemistry and a BS in Zoology from Arizona State University. With
the exception of absences for military active duty and post-graduate medical training, Dr Gillard has made the State
of Arizona his home since 1955.
